the ben miller band live at mojos 10.28.11

The Ben Miller Band came up from Joplin to play a show at Mojo's in Columbia, Missouri. The band's bluegrass/folk, Ozark Mountain sound is unique and awesome. Think "O Brother Where Art Thou" but way more dynamic, unique and relevant to today's music listeners.

The follow are some images I snagged of the guys.

The lead singer brought his own spotlight that illuminated his face a way that was reminiscent of Norman Rockwell. I totally dug it.

In case you didn't figure it out, this is Ben Miller.

Doug Dicharry supported the band with his strong trombone, washboard and drum skills.

Why yes, that is an authentic washtub bass.

Washtub bassist extraordinaire, Scott Leeper. You want to see it closer?

The band members had the greatest, most invested facial expressions of any band I've seen in a while.

In this song he sang into a telephone that's rigged into the mic. Badass in both sound and visual appeal.

More dramatic lighting coming up from the "can" lighting.

All in all, I love these photos. The band's unique use of instruments allowed for some great compositions.
